Saturday night is the West Coast premiere of “You Cannot Start Without Me” an acclaimed documentary about the life of Maestro Valery Gergiev, the artistic director the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. The film chronicles a year in the life of Gergiev, one of the leading conductors of our time. There’s also a rare opportunity to attend Valery Gergiev’s performance with the Mariinsky Orchestra this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. 615 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. All ages are invited to try out for a fixie team at Backward Circle in Irvine Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (under 18 need parent to sign forms).
